hi! as a LMT, i can tell you that if you’re able to get in anywhere for a massage, ask for a deep tissue massage NOT swedish. and advise the therapist that you have major sciatica pain so ask them to focus on that. while massage won’t fully make sciatica go away, it can help temporarily relieve it. and you would have to go continuously, not just once. also have OTC pain meds on hand when the pain gets bad. if you want something inexpensive and at home, there’s the tennis ball method. just lay down on the floor, everything flat. lift the leg where the pain is at, place the ball under your glute where the pain focuses and lie down on it to make sure it is in place then lift the leg up some and roll the ball around underneath. if you feel a tinge of pain at a certain spot, stop and let the ball be pressed against it for 4-12 seconds and continue rolling and repeat the process on all other trigger point areas. if you lift weights, i recommend not lifting too heavy and beware of doing full body squats. i can link you to a website that has some stretches you can do with video examples if you would like as well?
