Yeah. XII had some inspiration from mmo/open world type of games so there were paths that lead to high difficulty areas with enemies that you were not meant be able to beat early on. And if I remember correctly, in the game the player ends up going back to old areas to do quests and find those side paths. So no big surprise there that one would end up accidentally to the wrong places. Yuna and Fran were the best in my opinion too. With male characters it was Auron, Batlhier and Basch. Same for me with not being able to play the other Final Fantasy games but based on what I saw it was not that bad. XI and XIV are mmo's, XIII with it's 3 total games were a mixed bag and the recent XV is just too much open world for me. Watched some playthroughs from it and got the impression that the actual story suffered a lot due to it. Have played The Last Remnant on the pc actually. Really liked the game and it's nice idea of turned based combat with squads + squad fight moral system. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/n7u02-2gSPk/maxresdefault.jpg The world was also interesting with the story. The game though had some problems. Two that comes to my mind. One that my friend encountered was the adjusting difficulty system. If you took on a lot of mobs at the same time you were rewarded with more loot and xp but as a result the difficulty started to rise eventually. Result was that my friend hit a difficulty wall at one of the story bosses mid point and that was impossible according to him. I personally was more carefull so did not have this situation. What I did encounter was a missed event at one point of the story when the games story tells you to hurry up to the next town (emergency or they were chased etc.). But by not going to different direction I missed an event + npc that would have allowed me a certain key item. This key is important later on as it enables you to enter the high level areas of the end game. Thus I was not able to gain high tier weapons and as a result was not able to beat one of the optional boss fights that I wanted to do (The Enlightened Seven). https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/lastremnant/images/9/93/The_Seven2.jpg Bad guys from the story that you are able to enlist for your squads if you beat the whole fight. A difficult fight which I was able to survive for some time but then got a instant death to all groups. So after that failure and not being able to increase my gear I finished the game. A shame though as it was the first game in jrpg's that I was willing to do the hard end game fights. Motivation was that I wanted the two girls Hannah and Hinnah from the 7 enemies shown on the picture. Cool looking characters with nice combination attacks.
