Why didn't you try cosplaying her though? Some outfits look good on the person when they are wearing the outfits ... sometimes its the outfit wearing the person.
If you like design don't let the image of "can I do it better then her" stop you ... after all its the outfit you like to wear not be her ... riiight? ;)
