I didnt know that yama also existed in buddhism! The meaning of buddhist yama and hindu yama is slightly different! Budhist yama is the one who judges the dead souls and determine where they will go... Where as the hindu yama is the one who judges then living and determines if they should die or not! And comes to take their life at the time of their death (shinigami)

Lishifu @hakutaku In China, we have had so many dead souls...so some Chinese people shoulder the responsibility of judging dead souls and determining where they will go for him...As for Japan, Yama doesn't have so many brilliant helpers so he deals with most dead souls by himself .

. @vezax Yes mazu is its example.. and i honestly find that a very weird culture! I wonder if the people who are deified (during their living time unlike mazu) feel good or bad about it...

Hey, I'm currently studying neuroscience; in particular what genes influence cell shape. I find the complexity of the human genome has a lot of interesting things left to uncover. How about yourself, as a self proclaimed bibliophile are you studying anything interesting at the moment?
