I've been into anime ever since I first found VHS tapes of it in Blockbuster Video, back before it actually had a section.

Being an avid reader as well as a writer the indepth stories and the amount of character development in those early animes astonished me. It was nothing like the cartoons I remembered watching growing up. ( Well, save for a few. Robotech is based on Macross so that doesn't count quite as much. Though there were a few others. )

My first actual anime convention was a Nekocon back in 2004 and I really came to enjoy the culture of it. Seeing people put so much effort into their costumes or just getting together to share their love of anime.

I'm not as caught up on anime as I used to be and that list of anime I've watched isn't anywhere near complete. There are a few series I prefer to keep up with via manga. ( At least ever since I realized that most animes are just very expensive commercials for the manga. )

I've only cosplayed twice myself, a lot of my friends do it and do so very well. I'd like to get better at it myself and I'll hopefully be in a really nice one come next year's Animazement.
