Actually no. I've had it set to likes males and it still gave me girls.
I only have it set to "no preferences" cause I want friends of both genders. A lot of times in the past I end up talking to just guys and sometimes it's nice to talk to girls also especially when guys are being dumb.
Plus that was a rhetorical question. No response was needed. Thank you though :)
