I suppose it depends on what kind of Anime you like. I usually don't watch the newest Anime and tend to look for an Anime based on what sounds good. I'd pretty much recommend most of what I've seen. If you haven't seen Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood yet that's an excellent Anime but most people I know have already seen it.
