Just finished the first ep of The Last of Us on HBO Max... it's beyond anything I hoped it would be. I loved how they expanded on certain scenes, almost like playing a Route B run. In the game, Sarah gives Joel his watch that she had fixed, and in the show they have an entire scene where you see how she got the money that she jokingly tells Joel she got from selling drugs, and you see how she had his watch fixed... then it all goes right into the opening moment of the game when Joel comes home late in the evening and Sarah gives him his watch. The girl that plays Sarah absolutely kills it. Pedro Pascal was born to play Joel. And Bella Ramsey even kinda sounds like Ellie. The production values are through the roof (10+ million dollars per episode), the writing is great, the acting is great, and they even used Gustavo Santaolalla's main theme in the OP (although I feel they used the OP at the wrong time in the show). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z0TPseiuss Ep 1 is a 10/10 for me, and every review I've read has universally said episodes 3 and 5 are masterpieces.
