Haha, well, I respect this person, as I work the same way. Just take it from someone in the occult community, always be wary of manipulation tactics and scammers for obvious reason. Most of us are pretty grounded to earth and don't make lofty promises or bold assertions over things people can't completely see or feel. I do know a thing or two about curses. Call it crossover knowledge, though psionic curses kinda rely on the placebo effect in order to keep the energy circulating and self sustaining. Usually in that case, it wasn't a curse delivered on purpose. I remember my brother and I used to have really bad luck with electronics. So we liked to joke that we were cursed. But because we were budding psions, we didn't really realize that energy directs thought back then, so we ended up making it real. XD

Interesting indeed. It can theoretically happen, but it's pretty easy to fix. Ironically, a psi vamp can probably do it for you (Hopefully one who is mature and not all edgelordy. A lot of them tend to be dark empaths though, so I don't recommend getting too close to them.), or you could learn some basic energy manipulation to regulate it, but be careful just in case they are setting you up for a scam. If they try to corner you into a way of thinking that only they can do it for you and it will cost you a pretty peso, then come to me, I'll teach you how to do it for free.
