I get the jokes too, often because I'm not up on the use of slang and contemporary colloquialisms. As a child, I may have watched too much television out of the UK and Australia. Even today I get people asking me if I'm from those places based on how I talk or how I pronounce some words. ( I'm sure some of that even comes through here as I only recently realized how terse American English is ) The worst jerks are the know it alls and the guys with Male Answer Syndrome. Once someone gains the idea that they know everything, their ability to learn dies and they see themselves as oracles of knowledge who can not accept anything new.

Ohai thar <3 My name is Betty! :) I am a 22-year-old college student who is also currently enrolled in the San Jose Job Corps program. (Obviously, I live in San Jose.) I am 1/2 Mexican, 1/4 African American and 1/4 Japanese. So...yeah...I am obviously new to the community, so please bare with me here. Honestly, I'm here in hopes to find some new friends to talk to and possibly meet up with at conventions. I am not going to get my hopes up too high on finding the love of my life here. I understand you sittuation. It was like that for me in past. Now some how I am kind of in the middle. Where I can do some things as long as I watch my budget. However, almost no one I meet can travel with me and I always end up alone. I feel guilty at times because I am doing at least well and others are not. I'm also not rich so I can't hang with people who are. Is kind of weird place to be. Plus I don't know how to be in a group. All I know is to walk alone.
