Honestly... Dragon ball Z comes to mind... The protagonist constantly has to improve and evolve his fighting to beat stronger and stronger opponents and there transformations. But come on, how many anime follow that plot direction. I do have to agree with Monch, on the whole marriage thing. Maybe it was added for comical affect? Makes me feel bad for the poor childhood friend. Come to think of it childhood friends don't have great romantic luck in anime. They're always there as romantic rivals, but they sure lose out a lot. But all that said, i'm still watching it as well, waiting to see where the plot goes next.

Experience is gonna be the deciding factor in that battle. Erza doesn't have the brains and experience to deal with Rogers. Rogers fought superpowered army's, solo with a shield and WON. Erza has fought 1 army of demons with all her weapons at her disposal. Rogers would've done all that with a shield, probably in less time and instead of fighting and killing all 100, he would've been smart and just did 51 to make sure he won.

First anime I remember watching was either Inuyasha or Yu Yu Hakusho. I thought it was awesome and loved the animations. Was hooked instantly.
