Umm...I don't think the 'year' changes...I was born in 88, but I'm still a rabbit, and I still consider myself to have turned 31 on my birthday, calendar be damned.

Correct.The 大年初一/the first day of the Chinese new year of was on February 17, so the Chinese zordiac sign of people born on dates between ＜January 1 1988 to February 16 January＞should be Rabbit/卯兔.The Chinese/lunar age in 2019 is 32.
