@Mikan: I can relate. I won't devalue how you feel and say "Its something everyone experiences at that age", but I will say that I felt several times in my life like I had utterly ruined it. Now I'm 30 years old, a shadow of my former self, grasping for the things I lost, wondering if I even deserve the good things I have. I'm still overtaken with heavy nostalgia of a beautiful life that I'm never getting back. It bothers me that I would never be able to own a house like the one I grew up in. And when one of my friends died at the start of the year, it really messed me up. Especially right after my brother survived a brain tumor. It's like one life was traded for another. Now I'm sitting here, my car's broken, I'm half blind because my contacts have run out, I've been unmedicated for a long time, and I'm broke. Trust me, I know what it's like to contrast reality with the beautiful life you used to have. But one thing I have gotten better at because of my life hitting the shitter more than a few times is seeing how to claw my way back to the surface. And the more times you can make it back to the top, the more your true confidence starts to grow. The easier it is to realize how much stronger you are compared to then. Truth be told, I kinda love my life the way it is right now. At least now that I've gotten better at spotting the lifelines I'm being handed. So like... Hang in there. As cliche as it sounds, and I say this from the heart; This life thing is worth sticking out.
