Pc building, anyone else out there?

wolfneko
Welp... I'm not used to this... :/ Mayday! Mayday! SOS!

Worth noting i pretty much built this laptop. Bought it for $25 on ebay and refurbished it. Probably spent under $100 total after replacement parts. I also did a classic keyboard swap on it lol. https://files.catbox.moe/1fz0nq.jpg

@wolfneko Are your 6 or 8 pin 12V power connectors are connected to the graphics card? if you have a power supply with modular cables, check if the connecors safely are connectet to the PSU and your graphics card.

@john yep im assuming maybe I have them connected to the wrong spot on the psu but idk, never made that mistake before And yes fully modular corsair 850watt

My actual laptop was running most of the time above 90°C since i bought it. Cleaning the cooler properly bought it back to 70-90 degrees with new thermal paste also. Not qiet and still pretty toasty, than i replaced the thermal paste with liquid metal and the temperatures dropped to 40-70 degrees under full load (Linpack) and aditional GPU load with furmark. i have never thougt it makes this performance impact on just cooling your CPU and GPU.
wolfneko
@Rei & John so yeah all of my connections are good, I'm starting to think my psu isent carrying enough wattage, when I start up it instantly shuts down for 2 seconds and then boots back up, my pcie cable is in the 2x6 pcie connector slot and in tightly... I thought 850 watts would be plenty though... Could the 2 pcie cables be keyed differently? Lemme check that

Thats litearlly the same issue my brother had and i got him a 500W when hes probably only pulling 300W at most. I've been rolling with a 750W for years and thats overkill lmao
wolfneko
So upgrade my psu? And both my 8 pin pcie connections have all metal inserts
johnmandracke
850W PSU is enought to take 2 Graphics cards unless you dont want to overclock your system :) have you a second GPU power cable for your Power supply? try to connect both and see if it will run. If your graphics card have a 6 and a 8 pin connector, make shure you dont have only a 6 Pin connector in the 8 Pin input

Well this is purely anecdotal but i asked him to try powering it up without the gpu and it lasted longer before bootloop hence me assuming its the psu killing itself. Probably shit the bed. On his end probably just a dud
