Ahh, I see the problem. You need to start stocking up on dung pods (which isn't easy to do either).

You could trade in some materials to the Elder Melder for dung pods

Throwing poop at monsters will make them leave the zone. Which comes in handy when there's a monster yo don't want to deal with or there are too many at once.
