The live action DBZ movie was written and produced by people who had no idea what it was about aside from a money making franchise. Beyond that it was as if they tried to force the Power Ranger model (normal high school kids) on a story that was deeply established a few decades before, and the closed thought process from a team of yes-men that believed it could be completely recreated in another image. It deserved failure and ridicule. For the same reason I absolutely loathe the idea of a Hollywood production of either Cowboy Bebop or Akira (not like that in the video I posted).

Cowboy Beebop could be a good live action though; the US is good at space stuff, so the sets and effects would be good! You just need a good script writer and the right actors.

@manga bird And yet they managed to completely ruin dragonball before. They could make it good, but I would just be happy if they follow the material it comes from instead of the premise "I can do it better". Hell any robot anime/manga they make in hollywood would have awesome robots .. the script and acting though would be the hard parts for hollywood.

I have to agree with you Lock, the Ace Attorney movie rocked. Before seeing it I was very doubtful but the movie pulled it off. Its one of the few good video game movies. Talking about anime movies, you guys probably heard about the Ghost in the Shell movie. The movie will have Scarlett Johansson as the Major. @sadjester It seems the director (or script writer?) was a huge fan of the animated movie. Scarlett johanson is a good actress, I just hope the story does match or at least follow the world from anime. I wonder if most of it will be cg fights though ...

I don't really care 'who' plays, all I want is for the actors play the part, look the part and for the story to follow the anime or at least make sense in it's context.
