im not good at these things at all. i turned 23 in june. i've ben in and out of relationships with all kinds of girls since high school. but for some reason i cannot seem to meet very many otaku girls or even guys (to be friends with) for that matter. i've ben to 5 cons now and i've finally met some people who enjoy otaku. but where i work and live its basically impossible as far as i can tell. all the girls i have dated so far have ben non - otaku. so its really hard to share my passions with them with anime and such. so people of maiotaku. what is some good advice or your thoughts about trying to find people who actually do and like the same things you do?

Lol all anime fans are required to wear identifying tags on their ears :D

haha both funny and good points. i think tags on our ears might be a bit much lol. i think alot of it stems that we as a community feel bullied or shamed so we don't show as much nerdiness in public maybe. or fear of wearing an anime shirt, afraid to get asked what the hell is that by random people.

cons are a good start, but it can be a bit intimidating to talk to strangers and new groups of people. I'd suggest local anime clubs, book clubs, gaming groups, etc. It doesn't necessarily have to be otaku, but a broader geek-set to find people with similar interests from my experience because most of it goes hand in hand. Maybe just down at the local comic/book store browsing the manga section, but again, it can be a bit intimidating admittedly to talk to someone out of the blue.

Cons are a start, clubs in local College you attend, Comic Book/Hobby Store. It all starts somewhere, its on us to see it through.
