‘Be-Nice-To-Guppies Day’ As I ignore the science class and admire the little fish, a middle-aged woman/classmate approaches me and asks “Um excuse me, where are the little nets to catch the fish?” I point at the little nets to catch the fish. “Oh, ok. And where are the glass dishes to put the fish in?” I point at the glass dishes to put the fish in. “Oh.” She scoops up a little fish from the tank and dumps it onto the glass dish. As she walks away to her microscope I interrupt and ask “Aren’t you gonna give it some water so it doesn’t die?” She spins around, puts on a satirical smile and asks back, “What is this, ‘Be-Nice-To-Guppies Day’?” “Yes.” At first, a pause of shock, then she laughs so violently that her head tilts back like a PEZ dispenser. I can see the ceiling of her mouth. She strolls away, still laughing. I turn around and resume admiring the fish.
