Fuck It

Me and my Dad never got a long, and my Grandpa and my Dad never got a long. I always wanted a son to pass my name down too, but I've grown the fear that he'd hate me some day like I hate my dad, and my Dad hates his. I decided if I ever have kids I want them to be girls.

I had a friend who had the saaame thinking. Since his da hated him, he feared he'd hate his children. I'll give you the same response I gave him, "you're your mother's son, too". c: And if you have sons, they'll be your wife's sons as well. There's no written law that says they'll come out like you, or that they'll have the same kinds of relationships you do. Besides, who says they won't have a relationship with you like your wife has with her father?<p> And, just to throw my two cents in to the sons versus daughters argument, boys are so much easier than girls. They're more fun. xD

I understand you man. My Dad and his Dad don't get along and I don't get along with my Dad nor does my brother. I've thought about someday having children but I'm always plagued with the idea that I'll be a bad Dad because my Dad was a bad Dad and his father and so on and so forth. I think it's a matter of us overcoming those fears and just being better than our predecessors. Just because we've had bad parents growing up doesn't mean we have to treat our children the way we were treated.
