Wolf's Rain is my absolute favorite anime, the story is amazing, and dramatic. I'm also starting to enjoy the "slice of life" animes more too, Major is really good. And next on my list is Clannad

I heard it was really good... the manga, not so much. I love slice of life anime! Have you seen Azumanga Daioh? Gah, I need to see Clannad! I'm so behind on so many shows!
