...So now what

I should probably start with some back story. My ex and I dated for almost 4 years, we had moved in together, we were engaged. Then it all changed. I came back from deployment and we had grown into two people who couldn't be together. We tried, oh by the lord we tried, but when it all blew up...well it wasn't pretty. It's now almost 3 years later, and I'm finally ready to get back into the game, the only problem is that I have no idea what to do. The only experience I have with dating comes from when I was in school. I'm not anymore. All my friends are with their high school/college sweethearts. I'm just lost, what am I supposed to do? How am I supposed to meet someone? It really doesn't help that I can't stand the usual answer is for a twenty something. (I can not stand the whole bar scene, just no) I'm not looking for pity and this isn't a poor me post. I'm just looking for advice, because right now I've got nothing.

If you're done with college or don't plan on going back to school, meeting people can be a little tougher. That being said, it's not impossible. If your area college has an anime club, sometimes they'll allow non-students to attend. Also go to conventions or see if there are any meet-ups in your area for anime/video games/etc. For me, volunteering a little bit was a good way to meet some new people or even participating in local theater. There are ways to meet someone outside of bars and social circles. Sometimes you have to just put yourself out there a bit more.

Well, most people end up meeting their significant other through mutual friends. Say a friend has brunch or a barbecue or whatever that you go to and then you happen to meet someone there. If you don't see that happening, though, then if you are the more outgoing type, just chat up people when you go different places (make sure you read the situation before you do, though. Its more difficult for guys to do it without seeming creepy). If you enjoy volunteering, do that. You can meet others that are also volunteering and automatically have something to talk about. There are different things that people can do to meet others if they are in or out of school. My sister (23) met her boyfriend through mutual friends (he happened to be her friend's boyfriend's brother.) That is the more typical way of meeting others. Hope I was of some assistance.

You need some kind of social activity or know a wide array of friends, look for groups or events in your area relating to your interest, Start with making friends and let it branch out from there.

i say the old fashion way just start aconversatiion whit some you meet on your way anywhere a woman who peeks your intrest just muster up some cuorage and start with an introduction and that your intrested an you like to get to know her better hows coffee and if she is not the one try someone else that peeks your intrests dont worry about what she wil think you should say just start the conversation and pick it up as it goes i mean your already strangers if she doesnt have intrest she walks away and youl probably never se her again meaning your still strangers if you talk you can at least make a friend maybe more meaning there nothing to lose and you can only gain somthing no action equals no reaction so time for action :P
