Motivation and Confidence?

moonlightjazz
I was just wondering if anyone else ever goes through periods in life where they have no self confidence and no motivation to do anything. I get in moods like this quite a bit and I have no clue how to get out of feeling this way. Lately I just feel like I don't know what I wanna do with my life, I find it hard to find work and I am suppose to be volunteering but I don't know where to volunteer. I really don't know what I would be good at. I need to get my driver's license but I can't get motivated to read my driving book. Sometimes I get feelings like I will be jobless and single forever and it makes me upset. So basically I was wondering what everyone does to make themselves feel happy and confident?

Unemployment can make anyone depressed: It's a full-time job to find a job, and you have to constantly get rejected many many MANY times. Start looking in the mirror and hyping yourself up; place your own self at the center of the universe. Since a job interview is essentially selling yourself to an employer, you'd want to make in your best interests to be as confident and appealing as you can. When/if you get rejected: brush that dirt off your shoulders, and move on. The job market's crap, but there's always something out there. Start small if you have to. Only the most determined of people absolutely know what they want to do (like some tropeworthy movie script), so don't worry about not knowing what you want to do. Thousands and millions of us are lost as well, including yours truly =D As for the driving license: don't think about now, think about later. Think about how great life will be when you get a license. Buying booze, renting rug shampooers, having random joyrides, etc etc. Like a chess game, you have to assess the situation now, and think ahead. Look at that driver's book and say "This may suck now, but I have to do this. Let's study and get this over with". And as you keep driving, it literally becomes second nature. Keep your head up and don't let anyone knock you down. From when I spoke to you, I can tell you want to improve, and you WILL improve. I've got your back, just as much as any other rational, caring member of this board. tl;dr Prioritize yourself, think and look ahead, and keep your head up =)

Oh I have been there done that. Usually I just need someone to vent on and it perks me up. But Yea I have felt that rut where ya feel like you have no direction to go and that life is out to get you and no matter what ya do seems like you're eaither losing ground or staying even at best. Well that is when ya need a good support network.. friends and family that will not judge but more like be cheer leaders or just good listeners. Caujse a Kind word and a good ear seemed to help me out 80% of the time and the other 20% I just needed space to think and contimplate what was going wrong and try to tackle it from new direction. Don't Worry Miss Moonlight I am sure you will get through this rough Patch! Keep your head high and don't let the blah get to you. =)

@Moonlight the way I usually get motivated is by looking at my family and friends. It's kind of selfish in a way because I like to think that my brothers need to look up to me as a role model. Since I'm the oldest of 3 I have to strive to do my best. Even though these guys are already in their late teens, I still like to think that they believe in their oldest brother to help them out and make sure to point them in the right direction if they need help. My friends definately also give me a good pick me up. I can't ask for anything better than the friends who have pulled me up from bad times. So because they did that for me I'll always try to keep a smile on my face in order to help those guys smile. As for driving like J said its very simple. Especially if you are driving automatic. The key to getting your drivers license is practice. Practice makes perfect the more hours you have on the road the more comfortable you will be to drive. Every one started as a beginner driver, they didnt just appear and know how to drive automatically.
