Ghosts/Demons/spirits

tobitairu
I'm a hedge witch, our main purpose is to work with spirits and maintain a balance in a particular area. I've had experiences with ghosts, malignant spirits (I try not to use demon, because that's a loaded term), benevolent spirits, neutral spirits... One thing I've learned, when we bring our cultures with us, we also bring our spirits. That means a hedge in America has to learn, at least a little, about many different cultures, in order to know how to negotiate with spirits from that culture. As for ghosts... I can't think of a time when I haven't been around them in one way or another. The first house my family lived in, the one next door had a poltergeist. As I was growing up, I became so afraid of ghosts that I developed a mental block, meaning I knew when they were there but I never let myself see them. It took me years to break down the block so I could work with them.

I've always been interested in the topic based on my experiences. It's not something to be joked about. They are real, yet some people are like "I'll believe it when I see it" which is only because they just have not & perhaps never will see one. (Not to mention ignorant) Not everyone does encounter them. I've been seeing/hearing them since I was an infant. There are positive ones and negative ones. It's just up to others to keep an open mind.

I do believe in the unseen world. I'm not gonna go into much detail until later, as I'm extremely tired and need sleep.

It can be a number of circumstances, cantthink. For some it's manifestation strength, in particular when dealing with ghosts. A ghost is a nonphysical entity, and in order for a "sighting" to happen, that ghost has to manipulate physical reality. The theory goes that a ghost will agitate air molecules, producing heat. The immediate area will grow cold, while the apparition will either manifest as a cold spot, having used up all of the heat in their attempt to manifest, or a warm spot surrounded by a cold spot, having regular control of the agitated air molecules. Also, most ghosts and spirits won't manifest within the first twenty four or fourty eight hours of someone new arriving. The new presence can disrupt the environment, making manifestation impossible, and the spirits themselves may be cautious, not wishing to interact without knowing more. (Part One)

(Part Two) Next, psychism. Psychics, and occult practitioners, develop their nonvisual perceptions to the point where they can recognize the presence of entities. Some utilize methods like meditation and trance work to commune with them. Some utilize what I, personally, call the "false data theory". False data is essentially this: Your body and subconscious mind receive signals from your senses suggesting a presence in your vicinity. You cannot identify that presence with the senses alone, but your mind knows something is there, can feel its shape and emotional state, its psychic essence. As a means of identifying it, it loops the data through your sensory perception, creating false impressions to try to consciously identify the entity. You smell, see, hear, feel, whathaveyou something that other people don't as your mind takes shortcuts to provide a clear account of the manifestation.

(Part Three) Also, there are mental blocks. People that cannot bring themselves to accept the existence of a given entity deny that existence, to the point where the brain completely ignores it. All awareness of the entity is shunted, and the data is not processed. In this way, people become "blind". There are people called psychic nulls. Nulls don't lack psychic abilities, but their "wavelength" tends to adjust to any other "wavelength" that impacts it, cancelling it out. As such, they don't sense nonvisual entities. What's more, they tend to disrupt psychic abilities around them. Psychics become ill, get migraines, etc. around nulls.
