Those Actively Looking

Most people I know who use 'Onii-chan/san/sama', 'Onee-chan/san/sama', 'Kaa-san, Tou-san, Jiji, etc' only use it because of their interest in either Japanese culture/language, or anime itself. So it's just something fun for them to do. I don't mind it either. I've had girls whom were friends call me Onii-san and Nii-chan. BTW, I've finally gotten over my slight shyness when it comes to talking to people in general, and more specifically women! :D All thanks to customer service and being a sales associate at L.A. Fitness. Sometimes practicing and putting forth an effort into talking to others or getting over your fears works wonders.

Hmmm. I find that using any Japanese or Korean term in general is awkward. I'm okay with girls/guys being into the culture and etc but when they start to show signs of Weeabo-ism, it's probably time for me to cut ties lol. Weeabos are a turnoff to me anyhow, though. Using it jokingly is always okay but using it all the time or its in the daily vocabulary... no. xD.

Well, really it's a term for people who are obsessed with the Japanese Culture. *Koreabo for Korean Culture* However, that doesn't apply to my definition, More so, to me, the only meaning that it applies to are "Japanese wannabes". *Walks into Asian Grocery Store* *Girl and her friend spot something cute* " Oh my god! This is so kawaiii!!!! <3 " Or *Friend trips* *Friend #2: OMG, DAIJOUBU?* I'm not Japanese or Korean by any means but when I see people spam the hell out of Japanese or Korean terms, it embarrasses the hell out of me. Trust me, if it embarrasses me, its probably worse to them lol. Imagine people yelling out Japanese or Korean terms while at a Vietnamese Super Market. Ya. lol

Yeh torn pretty much explained it right on the bull's eye. When we are talking obsessed we MEAN IT. Granted you can be appreciative and like different cultures out there but certain folks take it to a whole new level of down right creepy/annoying to well limited common sense usage. My biggest turn off for me is when girls use random Japanese words in their talk when there is no reason for it at all. I'm half Japanese and it instantly annoys me. Granted I am Americanized to a certain degree but I do know my heritages.

I don't ever hear those terms except in anime. I don't know, maybe chinese/taiwanese people are more stoic, but the only time I've ever referred to someone who wasn't related to me by blood by a familial term is when I was little and called my parents' friends auntie and uncle. I think it's awkward when people talk to me using a combination of japanese, korean, english, chinese words. That's sooo awkward...
