I've seen several people try to start threads for recommending anime, but rather than limiting it with certain criteria, here ANYTHING goes. If you liked it, share it.
If someone else has already recommended it, don't let that stop you from recommending it too.
Edit: You don't need worry about following my template. Just recommend stuff however you want.

It's kind of a 1920s prohibition mafia anime, and a plot for revenge.

I'm going to try doing something a little different here at first. I'm going to start out making recommendations that are 15 years or older, that some of the younger members may not have heard of.

Rating 5/5 Stars
Aired: Spring 2011
Genre: Drama, Sci-Fi, Suspense, Psychological, Time Travel
This is a must watch for time travel anime. Two young scientist find a way to send messages back in time. What could possibly go wrong. It's very dramatic and story rich. If you liked Re:zero, you'll probably like this too.

Claymore
https://myanimelist.net/images/anime/3/21834.jpg
Rating 4/5 Stars
Aired: Spring 2007
Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Gore
This takes place in a medieval era. Claymores are half-human and half-youma manufactured to fight demons that eat people. Very gory with lots of action that gets more and more intense and fantastical as the series goes on.

Ergo Proxy

Rating 4/5 Stars
Aired: Winter 2006
Genre: Mystery, Sci-Fi, Suspense, Psychological
This one is pretty dark themed in a post apocalyptic world, where humans live in domes with the assistance of androids. The androids get infected with a virus and things go to ****. And to complicate matters more, there's a monster on the loose.

Rating: 4/5 Stars
Aired: Spring 2006
Genres: Sports, Delinquents, Rollerblading
This one was a pretty fun watch. Electric motors in roller-blades meets x-games meets anime physics, with some team turf wars thrown in.

Working!! (Wagnaria!!)
https://myanimelist.net/images/anime/10/75262.jpg
Rating: 4/5 Stars
Aired: Spring 2010
Genre: Comedy, Romance, Slice of Life, Coworkers, Restaurant
This was one of my favorite comedies from that period. It's about a restaurant with a very eccentric staff. If you want to watch something, cute, fun, and lighthearted that'll make you laugh. This is it. It went on for 3 seasons so you can binge watch it for a while.
Spoiler: The guy on the left gets randomly sucker punched by the innocent looking girl on the right a lot... Like seriously a lot.

Full Metal Panic!
https://myanimelist.net/images/anime/2/75259.jpg
Rating: 4/5
Aired: Winter 2002
Genre: Action, Comedy, Mecha, Military
This is kind of your typical soldier Mecha anime with a civilian twist. However, it was well balance between the serious parts of the story, comedy, and action. The main character who was a child soldier, now mercenary Mech pilot, took lack of emotion and no common sense to new heights, which was countered by the civilian teenage school girl heroine as kind of a comedic duo. Her class gets kidnapped by terrorist on their school trip, which leads her to meeting the mercenary when he saves her. It had multiple seasons, so there's plenty of episodes to watch, and was fairly entertaining.
