Dating is getting to know someone, to see if they are worth pursuing long term. Some people do this socially, by going out on dates, in public. Some do it in private, Netflix and chill, sort of things. Having said that, where a person offers to take you on a date is a pretty good indicator of their intentions and interest. Many people confuse fucking around with dating. To each their own. Long distance dating is its own separate category. It's more common now, because of the internet. Basically you spend time at a distance talking and texting getting to know each other and either the relationship is worth pursuing IRL and you set goals to meet, or you cut your losses.

For real though, some people prob need the answers. I didn't date the same way the Gen before me dated and I'm pretty sure the one that's following me is not doing the things I did. I don't think it's improving at all, but at least the internet does make it easier to meet someone that shares your niche interests.
