Yeah, when I think of the stereotypical "nice guy/girl" I think of those types that feel the need to tell people that they're nice and almost use it as a defining trait of their personality...and unsurprisingly it turns out that they're not that great of a person and show their true colors once things don't go their way. Like yeah, there's nothing wrong with being genuinely kind to people but I dunno. I personally will give anyone who feels the need to tell others about how nice they are a lot of scrutiny. Because it's pretty suspect no matter what you say or do, it's like demanding respect from every new person you meet. Respect is something that everyone expects to be given equally as common courtesy, nobody is going to take some person that makes an effort to DEMAND that they be respected seriously when they don't generate the respect they demand with their actions I'd say for me one thing I always look out for (this actually ties into the nice guy/nice girl thing :u) is how the person treats people outside of their interactions with me, since you get a very good idea of how they really treat people and if they're just trying to put on a facade specifically to wow you when you speak to them. Like if they're equally respectful to everyone that's great. But if they're generally disrespectful and nasty to people that's a huge red flag, I don't expect people to be social butterflies but I can't be around someone that's just a bitter asshole and is better at making enemies than friends. I've met both guys and girls who are like that, where when it comes to the opposite sex or people they want something from they'll put on a nice, respectful facade but everyone else would easily tell you that they're bitter assholes and to avoid them. But if you confront them about it, they act as if people just dislike them for no reason. :v
