so i would say it is unethical to kill something that wants to live for no good reason. animals feel and comprehend pain and suffering, pigs scream when they scared/in pain I don't want to give money to something that causes the suffering of billions of creatures a year you can live healthy, more healthy in the case of a lot of studies, on a vegan diet, which means your choice to eat meat is purely for fun which makes it entirely unethical, no matter how you look at it that's the crux of my debate. just as you wouldn't want homeless people to suffer and would choose a more ethical option, meat, i don't want animals to suffer, so i choose a more ethical option, plants. its the natural logical extension of those rights. can you give me the trait that gives you moral authority to kill and eat animals? this question goes out to anyone @noc, your running away from our debate?

here is another hypothetical then - assume that scientists were able to genetically engineer an animal that could do photosynthesis...and humans live in a society where they live on artificial oxygen produced and eating this animals meat....would a vegan was dropped into this situation is his/her only option is to starve themselves to deaath?

no vegan has ever said to not eat anything. veganism definition is to cause as little harm and suffering as reasonably possible. I'm sorry you were unaware of that definition until now, but hopefully iv been useful in educating you on that. do these animals feel pain? I'm not sure I 100% understand your hypothetical I'm sorry, but it seems like they can sustain themselves off the oxygen and don't need to eat the meat? Im fine with eating meat if the animal isn't killed/doesnt suffer. or if your life is in danger and you need to eat meat, like in the case of indigenous peoples. but this has nothing to do with you or the average person

So it all boils down to reason? Animals are mass culled in order to stock shelves Which I wish I could say would all go to use but that would be a lie some of those animals were murdered for no reason But every animal I eat serves a purpose They fuel my beating heart As I may love them and appreciate them

why is this ethical though? why is killing them needlessly, you can easily go vegan you choose not to, perfectly ethical can you give me one trait, just one, like sentiments, intelligence, species, something like this that gives you moral authority over animals?

yes it does you asked and i gave you a logically consistent answer you tested my logic in an extreme situation and it stayed consistant that's the purpose of it

We evolved from this, that in its self is enough reason. We evolved as predators and are still evolving. Moral authority is me being the one with the gun, having the choice to choose which animal I eat.

so the fact that we evolved from eating meat is what gives you moral authority over animals? the second answer sounds like might makes right you have the choice to kill people as well, but you don't do it even if it was legal I'm sure you still wouldn't, mainly because you don't want to cause someone harm
