I know they changed it in CA idr when but if you go and take the money they expect you to pay it all back in full. At least in CA and when I was going to school. They started adding more restrictions to financial aid and all those Pell Grant's. Idk anything about the veterans tho and how it works for them.

I just think they need to have a way to keep track of what those students are using the money on. I know for a fact a lot of them once they get the money they blow it on stupid things that isnt even for school. That right there makes me mad that my tax money is being used to pay for those students non school related stuff.

I'm not going to sit here and say this is good, but how else other than taxes are we supposed to pay off the damn national debt? It's not like lowering taxes and increasing the deficit like the republicans are doing is gonna do any good either. Under the GOP's tax policy, last I read the spending-GDP ratio increased from ~73% to over 100%. Personally, I think we should raise taxes AND lower spending until we pay off a chunk of the freaking debt and get government spending under control.

I dunno baka. I'd rather not have to pay half+ my paycheck in taxes because the political elite can't control their spending. Though I am suddenly curious about your belief in raising taxes... I gotta ask, do you have a full time job?

@Gud trust me, I'm with you on that one. But if we default on the debt we're fucked. We basically don't have a choice. That's why we tax them more than us, because it's their damn faults we're here. Yes I do. I'm a software consultant.

See, that's the thing... What are they going to do? Take American land en masse? From millions of Americans that are packing firearms? Edit: Good then! What do you think about the portion of income the government currently keeps out of your paycheck? Edit2: Another thing to look into is tax collection on Investments VS Labor; Investment gains end up paying less tax than say, you and me that provide labor for payment.

You know, I'd really rather not find out. I'm in a shit load of debt from college, and I'm doing my best to responsibly pay it down. And trust me, I'm not happy that I have to do that after how much I got screwed around by the American college system. Dealing with that kinda teaches you things, so I'm looking at the national debt the same way. If we pay it down, we'll have more money to spend on other things.
