Some "unpopular" members are just interested in talking to the opposite sex.I notice popular veteran members who have used this website for a long time befriend interesting members of all genders. Some unpopular members have bad communication skills. They don't know how to start a conversation, not to mention holding a conversation. Starting a conversation with "What's up" is a worst way. Even when the other party tries to come up with topics, they just cannot follow nor share their own information.. Some unpopular members are self-claimed lonewolves. They hate our community. We are just worthless normies in their eyes. Some members are too shy to take part in our discussions. They worry :"those people already have so many friends and their have their own circles of friends...Will I be accepted by them? Will I be rejected again?" I became part of the community step by step lol. Reading posts and making posts are more interesting to me than talking to people. Creeps on this website are usually unpopular members who are unknown to us. Female members who get harrassed by them tend not to tell us the usernames of those creeps instead they de-activate their accounts and leave. Thanks to some veteran members' efforts, more female members decide to stay lately.

Maybe give people little banners on their profiles or in their names that say if they are a veteran or a moderator so others can clearly see who to go to if they need help or just have a question. I haven’t seen too many people posting on the Introduction posts for newcomers. So maybe they feel like the site is dead?

Also I’m pretty sure it’s still just one person running this site, but I could be wrong. Coding and the such is hard to do for one person when they work a full time job and have a social life.

@ENKI ENKIDU|鬱壘: Really? Well..... I can somewhat understand, but at least be friends first, even if its friends with others of thw same gender. They'll find someone (needs to take own advise) I mean, at least see what anime you have in common and start from there. Even a genre of anime, or even music. Something small to spark a conversation. I mean, manga by a certain author could be an interesting one. Well, shyness isn't easy to overcome. I'm happy to accept anyone that's willing to be a friend. Come and say "hi". I'm sure there's something to talk about. Aw... But it's fun to talk to others. In fact..... @Fatalis: Banners could be cool. Well, to be fair, I'm always brought to my profile, not the forums part. So seeing who just joined isn't easy. Wait, still just one person? Wowzers. Hmm..... Then this'll be trickier then originally thought.

@Foolish_Otaku Thank you~!! ^^ Ahh yes!! Tags would be great! I think this website might be a little outdated. I'm not sure what this place was like when it started but it's currently a little old in comparison to the speedy and ever changing social media ^^; @pk_zero I agree with you - veterans vs newcomers view this website very differently! However, a community only grows if people stay, yet this place is seemingly catered to established users and not an easy transition for newcomers to settle into. Maybe a forum dedicated to "getting to know you" or having 'hot topic' discussions can promote better dialogues since this site doesn't really have a strong algorithm for finding matches. It seems that we can't rely on the system to help connect friendships rather we have to do the work by initiating threads that can bring engaging discussions amongst the community. Unfortunately, as a user, that's the most we can do to improve the quality of the community.

Maybe polls and quizzes that appear on the side bar?

^^ I feel the same way, the problem doesn't seem to be the community as a whole but more so how we organise ourselves (the administration structure is a bit unclear). To be honest though most people here seem to be pretty nice, I have seen quite a few "welcome posts" in the past and when people have serious topic there is a core that are respectful and helpful. Hopefully we can give sephiroth help (..as a lurker I am not sure how helpful I can be).

I’d probably just start with organizing everything and making it clear and easy to read/navigate. Then asking the community who they think should be nominated as a moderator or who should be denominated based on feedback of members who have interacted with them. And also by making it clear to everyone that they are a moderator and what their duties and privileges are.
