Well if you mean lifeforms such as intelligent life, like us humans, then I can see where your getting at, we ARE much more complex, I heard even if we found life elsewhere it'll likely be animalike lifeforms, however the search continues, I know that they found other planets that's very similar to Earth, however they feel that life isn't on these Planets, BUT if we can reach these planets then we'd be able to spread out more and colonize the extra planets, although I'd be ecstatic if we can find life elsewhere, heck even if they did it's not like we'll be there to see it happen lol.

I can't get why the search for life only revolves around earth-like planets. Simply because Earth is currently the only planet that we currently know harbors life doesn't mean that there can't be a different kind of life. It does seem that life has to be carbon-based but the beyond that we assume that water is necessary and that the atmosphere must constitute a "living environment." However, even on earth there are examples of lifeforms that would be able to survive outside of our stable conditions.

I actually I had to look this up. Interesting this information was never mentioned in any of my science courses. Thanks for bringing it up. Granted, the ability of an animal to survive in space doesn't necessarily reflect an evolutionary need. The number of single-cell microorganisms that can survive under extreme conditions is numerous, but this organism appears to be peculiar in its fortitude. I would think that incorporating those things into our genetics isn't feasible. Our complex organ systems would prevent any kind of genetic toiling to this extent. However, something like in Gundam Seed would be plausible.

Here's something that could be interesting. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/02/magazine/can-a-jellyfish-unlock-the-secret-of-immortality.html
