wat to do on a anime convention

kitsunerena
I agree with what everyone else has said so far. You can also meet people in panels, anime viewings, dealers room, and artist alley. It boosts your recognition if you cosplay and people know or like the character, they'll start chatting with you about the anime or manga and you can find other similarities that way. Sometimes buying pins with anime or manga themes and wearing those around have the same effect. Conventions are really fun when they are set up well and have good activities planned. I've seen several that have dodgeball or video game tournaments if you'd be interested in those.

Depends if it is a big convention or a small convention. Big conventions need careful planning as to what panels to head to. Always make sure you have enough travel time to get to point A and point B. In between the events that don't interest you, always take that time to explore either the dealer hall or just mingle with the crowd. If you're at a small convention, you'll have enough downtime to mingle/explore the social floor or shop. Finally, keep water with you at all times since it will be a lot of walking/standing/playing.

Anime conventions.. jeez theyre what you make of them xD i've had quiet grumpy cons but i've also had no-sleep get drunk and run around like an idiot cons, those are the best. expect anything and everything possible. to me, cons are the ultimate freedom to be a dork. you'll see everything from weeaboos to cosplay legends its sort of amazing. the first convention tends to be overwhelming but man are they worth it xD also, staying on site generally means more partying and bizarre night time activities haha. or is it just my group of friends who are this rambunctious? hahaha

Going to give you advice in list form some of it is stuff already said other stuff is stuff learned by myself :p- 1.Bring money for food, items, and etc. (if you can bring a cooler and your own food. Use the vending machines ice if you need more ice. One it'll save you money and two it'll cut time away from the con) 2.Make a schedule for events at the con you like so you can enjoy a good amount of the con.( This doesn't mean stick to it but it always gives you something to do if bored. Believe me there are boring moments at con usually around 9-11 before the Rave which if you don't drink es very boring :p) 3. remember everyone elses advice about if your cosplying, if you want to take a video or picture, etc etc. 4.Bring your own pillows and such if rooming with a large amount of people.( trust me you learn this after your first con you group with alot of people) 5.If you can get your badge before the con begins like that Thursday do it. (Gives you extra time to sleep on Friday. Trust everyone who says you will get no sleep on con days cause it's the facts. Literally 3-5 hrs some people get all con. I make it a habit to get 5-6 on con days. 6. Enjoy it! Yell Buttscratcher as loud as possible, play the penis game if you want, do a barrel roll and intro duce yourselfs to folks if you desire. It's the one chance you'll be around people who share so much of what you love, like, and care about. It is truely the most free thing in this world. There is no high like it and nothing can compare with your first. 7.Biggest tip I can give you. There is a deep depression for after you leave a con. Like you will feel utterly defeated after a con. Have like something to do after you get home. Like go home and then go do something else. Like I can not stress enough the after con affect it truely is depressing. -Enjoy

i went to my first con last year and just like you none of my friends are into anime so i went by myself most likely i will be goin by myself this year too :( even if you are by yourself you still wind up talking to a few people at least and still have fun, i was smoking a ciggarette with a resident evil 4 merchant cosplayer wound up hanging out for a good couple hours just joking around, the next day i hung out with a sub-zero cosplayer and we were runnin around looking for the scorpion cosplayer so they could fight i was going around yelling "were is scorpion sub-zero wants his vengeance" never found him though he is a ninja haha but ya even if you go by yourself your still bound to have alot of fun and laughs

Check out their panels and event list before hand, maybe it is posted somewhere online for the attendees. You might see something that will catch your eyes :P Bring snacks/food with you :O My friend and I, at the last con in Northern Cali we brought several protein bars with us since we hardly ate hahah and needed something to fill us up while running around :P

everyone should be sure to treat everyone, including cosplayers with respect. no "glomping" and that other stuff. just because their cosplaying someone you like does not mean you should treat them any different.
