Gamer in need of opinions

I’ve been unable to make my Xbox work for in regards of connecting to the market place so I can’t even upgrade to a gold membership and I’ve done everything that the people have told me to do and this has been going on for months now, so here is my question that I want opinions on, is it worth it to go ahead and get a PS3 so I can at least get some sort of online play going on?

i would say get a friends ps3 to your place and see if its able to connect to your internet first. that way you dont have to go to the store with a return later. ps3 has less features when it comes to talking to other players online. but its free on very rare occasions xbox games have bad online connection at launch (sometimes fixed right away other times get fixed months later if at all) i dont know about new xboxs bot all ps3s has wifi card built in so you dont have to buy something that will just hang off the edge of your console. Long time goal of both companies Xbox is aiming to be your center of your livingroom by doing all media and serveses Ps3 is aiming to focus on gaming with less support for everything else. neither is 100% in one direction at all but its something to consider for the future of the two.

I agree with Henagata on testing out the console before you pick it up. Might be a good idea to check if you're able to get online with the console before ya buy.

I prefer my Xbox to any PS3 for the following reasons: Its cheaper Controller- the 360 controller is infinitely better stock than the PS3 controllers. Xbox Live is better, in the sense that it hasnt been hacked on a large scale like PSN, not saying its more secure but I trust it more as it took me 2 weeks to wipe my PSN account once the hack began The game selection is better and the PS3 and Xbox ports are nearly identical, with the PS3 having a slight edge but it is less consistent with results.

I dont like xbox compared to my ps3 i like the ps3 more xueli myself when it comes to mere convenience in my opinion I like the xbox for the games

you are connected through a router i presume have you tried connecting straight to your modem? or tried port forwarding Microsoft rarely tells people to do this
