Pt.8– “—mara”, the sound of hooves stomping on the ground. “Nam—“, the sound of sheathed swords clinking on metal armor. “—ama!”, the twisted smile of a man she’s never seen. Watching him now bow, feeling a kiss to her hand, feeling nervousness in her heart but she’s come to terms wi—. “Namara! Breathe my treasure, just breath. Hush child and be calm.” Shaking in the arms of her mother the young princess tries to focus on the calm of her mother’s voice and the gentle in and out of her breathing, Namara doesn’t know what is going on with herself... she supposes what happened was a vision. But she doesn’t know why she is scared? It’s not even the worst vision she could have... and yet... here she is trembling in her mother’s arms, gasping for breath like she is a fish out of water. The young girl grips onto her mother’s robes and attempts to speak, only to have her mother softly put a finger over her lips and hush her gently. “Hush now. You need time to gather yourself my dear, why don’t you focus on breathing.” “What’s wrong!?” The king rushes in freshly bathed and dressed, looking at his daughter shaking in his wife’s arms. His brow once again furrowing in worry and lips pulling down into a frown, and he should really try and take Sabana’s advice and not frown so much but how can he not? His daughter is trembling in her mother’s arms and not because she is crying again... but she looks scared and the king thinks he much prefers her crying over any fear. “Nightmare?” Sabana shakes her head at her king and touches Namara’s head gently while talking. “No, a vision. I woke up because I felt fear; her fear I believe.” Namak looks at his wife in thought while walking towards their bed and settling gently down on the edge, “Has that happened before? Do you usually feel her dreams?” Namak watches his wife shake her head and elegantly shrug her shoulders, “I don’t believe it has? It only happened when she slept next to us and she has never slept so close to us before. When she was younger and did so... she didn’t have visions much yet? And if she did she never woke up like this before and so I had no reason to awaken to comfort her.” The king nods his head and both the king and queen’s attention is brought back to their now still daughter who looks like she is ready to speak. Sabana helps her daughter sit up fully and sets a gentle hand on her back while waiting patiently for her to speak. Clearing her throat from any scratchiness the young princess rings her hands together nervously and glances at her parents, “I heard the sound of horses hooves upon the ground. I heard the sound of sheathed swords hitting upon metal armor... t-the sound was a lot to take in, it sounded like there were a lot of soldiers marching towards us—“ Namara takes a deep breath and hugs her legs—“I heard the laughter of a man-“ Namara’s father bristles with worry at those words and doesn’t say anything because of the look from his wife telling him to let their daughter finish. “A-And I felt unnerved watching the man as he placed a kiss upon my hand. S-Something was not right with him, but I felt a recognition within myself as he greeted me.” Namak looks at his wife with bafflement and shakes his head, “My dear queen, don’t tell me that must be the man we give her away to?” Sabana lets out a sigh, “He could just be a suitor? I am not denying that this man is not the one... but there are some things me and Namara’s visions haven’t shown us yet. We don’t even know the period of time we have before we hand her—“ a pause—“before we hand her over to the unknown man. She could be a little older for all we know? She could—“ the king sighs and finishes his wife’s sentence—“she could be the age she is now... but no one has ever approached us about her before? Maybe someone ends up finding out about her?” The Queen puts her finger on her chin in thought before nodding in agreement, “That would make sense if this man comes to take her for himself. I would think if he finds out about it other kingdoms will too... the question is why he is the one chosen to take her?” Before the king can respond to Sabana, they both look at Namara who has now uncurled herself from her safety position and opens her mouth to make her own remark. “M-Maybe we will have a period of time together before I have to go? Maybe more things will be revealed during the passing time?” Namara looks at her father hopefully from her own words, hoping that maybe she’ll be reassured that they will have time to prepare but slowly hunches over in defeat at seeing her father’s unsure look himself. Namak places a large hand gently on his daughter’s shoulder and pulls her close, “It would be wrong of me to give you what may be a false hope. I myself do hope the same thing as you and that we can spend a little more time together, but the things is... I honestly just don’t know how much time we have or if we have any at all? Don’t lose hope on that thought, but also don’t hold on too tightly onto it lest you disappoint yourself.” Namara nods her head at her father’s words, their sensitive moment being interrupted by a growl from the princess’s stomach. The sound causing the young girl to flush with embarrassment and her parents to laugh at her reaction and Queen Sabana to climb off her bed and stretch her hands out to Namara in an invitation, “Come. Let’s go have breakfast together and worry about such things later. You must be hungry young lady? And thirsty from all the crying you did.”

Pt.9 Namara nods her head quickly at her mother and grabs onto the stretched out hand, pausing and causing her mother to jerk back as she hasn’t begun to walk. “Wait! Should we get dressed first? What if the rest of the palace sees us in clothes from yesterday still?” Sabana looks at her daughter in thought before nodding her head and shooing her daughter to the changing room, the king smiling at mother and daughter. “I will send a maid to retrieve Namara’s clothes and I will go ask the cook to prepare our food.” Namak shakes his head fondly at the quick hand wave of his wife, telling him she is barely paying any attention to him when she has a daughter to care for. The king lets out a slight huff of laughter while opening the doors to his private chambers and immediately sees the startled looks of his guards, “What is it?” “Nothing, your majesty!” Namak looks between the two guards and nods his head when he deems them fit to go back to their positions, although he doesn’t know what’s gotten into those men? As he’s walking down the large palace hallways the king sees a younger maid trailing behind a more experienced one and calls out to her, “Young lady!” The two maids quickly bow to the king, the younger one stuttering: “Y-Yes, your majesty? Has this one done something not to your liking?” King Namak raises his brow at the question and gently motions for the women to stand up, “You have not. I can see you are new to the palace... I have an important job for you.” The young maid bows deeply again, “Anything for his majesty.” The king nods his head in approval, “I need you to retrieve clothes for the princess and bring them to my private chambers—“ the regal man turns to the older maid and gestures for her to step forward—“ And you go to the kitchens and have breakfast prepared. You are dismissed ladies.” The two maids bow again and head off to their respective destinations, the younger maid walking off with an elegant determination. Back with the queen and the princess, they just finished bathing. Namara’s nervousness completely disappearing at having the calming hands of her mother run through her hair, the young girl watching her mother pick from her array of clothing in confusion. Her mother can’t possibly be dressing herself can she? The young princess watches as her mother picks a purple robe with accessories that match beautifully with the gold lining on the robe, the princess can no longer hold her silence and begins to question her mother. “Are you dressing yourself? I can summon the maids mother.” Sabana smiles at her daughter while holding onto her robes, “Yes, of course I am dressing myself. Me and your father had to learn how to dress ourselves when we ruined our kingdoms... after all, there was no one to dress us so we learned ourselves. I suppose we should teach you too? There’s no telling what things lie ahead and I’d hate for you to not be able to dress properly.” The queen finishes putting on her jewelry and puts on her sandals, “I will go to the kitchens and check how breakfast is coming. The mai—“ Queen Sabana is interrupted by gentle knocking and the soft voice of who she assumes is a maid, “Your highnesses. I’ve come with the princess’s clothing, may I enter?” Sabana walks towards the large double doors and opens them up, “You may enter. Dress her well and send her to the dining hall immediately after—“ The elegant woman raises her hand to stop one of the guards from following her—“You both stay here with the princess and the maid. I can look after myself and I want extra protection in case something were to happen.” The guards look unsure about the request knowing their king would want someone with his queen, but the king isn’t here to overrule the queen’s argument so they just bow and return to their positions as the queen walks off. ——— Sabana nods her head at the guards that open the dining hall’s doors and bow to her. Seeing her husband at the head of the table with... a large basket? She is guessing their food is already inside of it if the delicious smell wafting from the basket give a clue, “Husband? Are we leaving?” Namak smiles at his wife and kisses her lips in greeting, “I thought we could dine outside for a change. Aren’t we used to seeing this boring old palace anyhow?” The surprised queen smiles at her husband and hugs him, “Our daughter’s words have really changed you, hmm?” Namak squeezes onto his wife’s waist tightly, “Yes... we never know when she’ll be taken away. And this is something I’m sure we should have done long ago.” His Queen hums in agreement and pulls away from her husband when the doors are opened up once again and their daughter comes rushing through... in a way she hasn’t been taught, but they can let it pass. Namak opens his arms up expecting to be hugged by his daughter, but blinks in confusion when she shoots past him and reaches for the basket on the table. “Mother, father. What is this basket for?” Sabana starts laughing at her husband’s put out look and smiles at the excitement on her daughter’s face at the realization, “Are we really going out!?” Sabana clears her throat and decides to help her husband out, “Yes. And it was your father who came up with the idea to eat our breakfast outside.” The excited young girl runs up to her father and flings her arms around his waist, “Thank you daddy! Let’s hurry up and go!” Namak pats his daughter on her head gently and watches his wife grab their basket, the king stopping mother and daughter from asking the guards to open the doors. “Halt! If we head out there... surely our guards will follow us?” Sabana looks at her king curiously, “Yes... that is their job to follow and guard is it not?” The king nods his head, “Of course it is! But, you know how stubborn those men can be... they are too sticky—“The queen shaken her head at Namak—“ If by sticky you mean loyal? Like you asked for in our palace guards.” Namak smiles mischievously the moment he sees his wife realize the point of his questioning,”My beloved king. You can’t possibly mean that we should sneak out of the palace?” Namak sees his young daughter bounce in excitement at the thought of sneaking away while his smile only grows wider, “It HAS been a long time since we have had to sneak away my love. Care to show if we still have the stealth for it?”
