I can't remember. The tree has sat on the property for many years now. They are red apples. I know they're varying kinds, but these apples become diseased fairly easily. I should spray them with some kind of fungicide at least to keep the mold off.

Yeah sounds like that tree needs some care. Some pruning, rice water and ash can help revitalize it maybe. Then again I don't know how bad it is exactly.

Could be apple scab or sooty blotch. It definitely seems like a prune needed, some nutrients, and maybe a fungicide or two.

Better idea! The mimic turns into a toilet! Gotta go sometime...
