How much alcohol do you drink every week?

None. But I was born on St. Pattrick's day, and since that's coming up, be sure to have one for me and my late twin brother who drank like a pirate.

It really depends sometimes it's a glass of whiskey a day, sometimes it's maybe one a week, it all really just depends.

Interesting. Me, Yass, and a handful of people are moderate drinkers, but it seems like most are either extremely light drinkers or don't drink at all. Although it is a small sample size from a niche community, it does support my theory in that many heavy drinkers in the US skew the average daily consumption of alcohol so far that we don't really get a good representation of the "average" amount of alcohol consumed. At least on this site I guess I'm in the minority that enjoys alcohol regularly.

I definitely enjoy it regularly but these days it just depends on outside circumstances affecting my life. Back in the day when I was younger and in the military I'd definitely be classified as a heavy drinker

yeah, it's hard not to use alcohol as a coping mechanism to deal with anxiety. It's a slippery slope that is hard to excape from. I know a lot of people who have struggled with it and still continue to struggle with it to this day

I've generally limited myself these days to a glass a day or less with increased age and history of severe alcoholism on both sides of my family. It's enjoyable but definitely a slippery slope.

I got severe alcoholism on one side of my family so I'm always second-guessing myself to consider if I'm drinking out of the enjoyment of it or using it to deal with anxiety and I am actually in need of a drink. Maybe a little bit of both I suppose.

I came very close to destructive drinking a few years ago with everything going on at the time like when I'd have to work nights and deal with all the case work especially when I'd have to deal with a child molestion case or a murder then have to come in and do my regular army duties during the day. I enjoy it but I was also using it as a coping mechanism as well. I found when I quit drinking I did miss the taste and enjoyment of it so I've limited myself to at most a glass a day unless it's an event or celebration.
