Do you like this genre? Any particular titles that stand out in your mind? How do you feel about its 3D counterparts?

Something rather interesting. The first game on the NES to do this Metroid style that wasn't Metroid was Goonies II. My friends and I call this style of game a "Goonoid". I do actually like this game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdpmDqR4ZDc
