Anyone here embarrassed to be a US Citizen

talamar
Am proud to be an American. Even at our worst we still better then livin in 90% of places cc elsewhere. And a lot of the stuff you guysc arecwanting and complaing about most other places have it worse. I know you all want to live in japan but they have a lot of problems themselves. So am happy to be here.

I have been a Citizen of Japan and The united states.. and i have experienced the best and worst of both countries. But i am NOT embarrassed to be a U.S. citizen. The PEOPLE make it bad, not the country it self. So when people assume that i am like stereotypical U.S. citizens (in the negative way), i prove them wrong! Plus, i never was considered "at home" in japan anyways. I was always the Gaijin, despite being born and raised there. so i like that i can be considered "at home" and Accepted here in the U.S., even though i wasn't a born in citizen. 'w'

I'm proud to be a us citizen. I feel like people shouldn't be idolizing china or Japan. You guys are kinda drinking the propaganda kool-aid. There are huge problems in both countries that don't happen here. Of course ever country has it's pros and cons but we are, by far, not the most embarrassing nor are we the worst country to live in

The US is not the wonderful perfect place everyone believes it is and with some of the crap it does, I would rather just say I'm from Texas.
masuji
@Yiffy Bunny Your post from awhile back was pretty funny. Texas wasn't too bad when i visited but its not my favorite place, and I don't necessarily think an independence or secession movement would be the best course of action. @Xueli,frasia, talamar I don't overlook the issues that plague China, Japan and Hong Kong. I'm well educated on the issues in China and Japan. I'm not drinking the propaganda Kool-Aid, I was raised in a very backwoods part of Virginia and I was bullied, verbally abused and vindicated and demonized for not being a hardline christian, nationalist and bloodlusting war lover. Then, in 2009 I went to China. I was harassed by vendors, but thats about the only thing that people did impolite to me. China and Japan have cultures that are based on respect, we don't have that. They also lack corrupt and evil western religions as a framework to their lives. And Chinese is a wonderful language I have enjoyed studying, same for Japanese. Now that I live in a decent area its not so bad to live here in the US but that doesn't mean I'm satisfied by any means. Our politics are screwed up and I do not want some American Dream bull. And I don't align with traditions of the US at all. I prefer the traditions of China and Japan by far.

I agree with up on that Masuji

Masuji, I couldn't have explained it better myself. all of your points are absolutely right on the money.
xueli
It's very hard to explain this because you're not asian and you weren't raised the way we were so it's understandable that you wouldn't know of the kind of social nuances that is instilled in all of us. Asian people are generally polite to strangers, but it's not out of respect. It's just because you're a foreigner. It doesn't come from an altruistic place, so much as a selfish place. It's shameful for me if I let this white man think so and so. I don't think western religions are corrupt just on the basis that they're religions so that's pretty much the only thing I can say on that point. Also, it's a lie that asian countries aren't nationalistic. We're so racists, we're racists against each other. Each other being chinese people being racists against other chinese and Japanese people being racists against other Japanese. That's nothing compared to what they think of all the other asian countries. Hell, there's currently chinese and japanese people advocating war on each other's countries other the island debacle because if they let it go than japan/china think that china/japan is weak and we'll lose face. Also in China, there's no democracy. Corrupt government officials are running rampant. Bribery is a way of life there. I don't know about your area, but I'm pretty sure you don't hand money under the table to the technician that comes to set up your internet/water/power/gas just so they'll actually come and do their job.
hayate2013
that is a little harsh don't you thank
xueli
I don't really think it's all that harsh because it's very much a truth. It's well known and well acknowledged amongst asian people. Why we have incredibly corrupt governments, why asian society is homogenous. We're not any better than any other ethnicity and we hide it no better if not worse than other ethnicities too
