@nebelstern So what are people politically ranting about in Brazil these days?
nebelstern
I've been ranting more about South America in general. My president's cowardice and incompetence is of no surprise to any of those who read my rants. At least more vaccines are coming here. But the young ones like me will be vaccined at the middle of the month. You know, 3rd world problems. However, my concern is that Venezuela is extending its own sea border to Guyanese territory, and they have the gall to call the UN to intervene on us.

@nebelstern didnt your pres say that the vaccine might turn you into a crocodile? that kind of lunacy is at least entertaining
nebelstern
Yes, that's the man. Although I'm pretty sure he meant aligator, but idk what jacaré means in English.
nebelstern
But you know, if I could turn into a crocodile bc of vaccine, I might even try and steal some pops from the nearest clinic. Jokes aside. The president's son posted a pic of a corpse of a man who commited suicide bc lockdown. Just to see how low these kind of people are. At least, we are in the forefront of vaccination compared to the rest of the 3rd world. Yes, we've only vaccined 4%, but other countries have vaccined just 1% or even below that. Despite Bolsonaro, we have a good National Immunization Plan, thank God. What we lacked were vaccines, to which our magnificent president only bothered to get when São Paulo's opportunistic governor managed to buy some himself. About Lula, well. I exaggerated a bit. He wasn't decreed innocent, but his sentences were nulled because of the Lava-Jato operation's end because of Bolsonaro's necessity to shield his Willy Wonka wannabe son and indicating guarantor-aligned people to the Supreme Courts. Since Lava-Jato was in Curitiba and its main judge, Sérgio Moro's... suspicious (but moral) conduct in the process, the Supreme Courts just deemed necessary for Lula to be judged in Brasilia. As such, he is eligible for putting himself at the 2022 Presidential Election... although he denies he has plans for such. But he's a politician, so I doubt he'll carry that until 2022. That's it. The only candidate Bolsonaro faces in the 2nd round that he has a chance to win is Lula, and vice-versa. At this point, one depends on the other to be relevant.

Since Brazil has like a million parties, it wouldn't hurt if I just threw in the candidates I wager who will run for 2022.

@nebelstern whats your opinion on the amount of parties in your electoral system? is it a detriment? personally i think third parties are stupid because liberal and conservative parties already emcompus these issues, and also add more to legislative issues green party is concerned with environmentalism, guess what that's an issue of the democratic party taxation and state independence is an issue of the libertarian party and guess what that's an issue of the conservative party except dems and republicans care about other issues too even in countries like Germany that have multiple parties, the same ones are always voted in for a reason, theyr just more comprehensive for a menagerie of issues, not just niche ones /rant
nebelstern
Yes, at least in my country, we could use less parties and we'd waste less resources to pay for their campaigns. But I'll be general instead of going just for Brazil. I disagree that a biparty system is the way to go, because it opens the way for politicians to alienate the masses by monopolizing a single line of thought. The Rep x Dem propaganda is fierce, giving no leverage for 3rd way parties to stand a chance to win something. There are many parties in the US. Socialists (Marxists), Nazis, Fascists, Libertarians, Environmentalists, Paleocons, etc. etc. Marxists despise the concept of Liberal Democracy, calling it "bourgeois democracy", so they cannot be in the progressive Democratic Party, which defends Liberal Democracy; Libertarians, in some instances, find common ground with neo-Confederates due to their secessionist nature, so they cannot be in the conservative Republican Party, which is Pro-Union; Paleocons believe the Republicans invest too much on putting the US against other countries (neoconservatism) and allow Capitalism to overlap traditional culture in the US. Needless to say they aren't fit with the less traditionalistic Reps;

Returning to my country. We once had a rivalry between the Workers Party (Marxist in its foundations, but actually a bunch of parasites. Left-wing) and the Social Democratic Party (Centre in theory, Centre-right in practice), with the Democratic Movement Party, the ultimate Big Tent of Brazil. The SDP was only viable party for anyone with a Right-wing mind to oppose the Left since 2002. Bolsonaro's election in 2018 wa in part, good for breaking that polarization. The WP had their very first opponent that wasn't from the Social Democratic Party, and yes from the Social Liberal Party, a party of literal-whos to which Bolsonaro's presence alone managed to make it gain relevancy in the current days. Now, the Social Liberal Party itself is distancing from Bolsonaro because of his betrayals and unaffiliation. We could use a bit more of centralization, I agree. There are literally 3 Labour Parties, we could just unite both into one single Party. Such with our two Social Democracy parties. The physiological Right and Centre have so many parties in this country I even lose the will to count them and propose how one unifies them.
