@hell_hound7 that's part of the issue. They're not losing enough money. Maybe here in the US but other parts of the world still eat up the crap they spew out. https://i.imgur.com/qfTIwQU.jpeg @nebelstern "drinking the kool-aid" is a reference to the Jonestown mass suicide/murder where a cult drank a poisoned mixture of a flavored drink. However they actually used flavor aid and not kool aid. Look up "Jim Jones" if you wanna know more and you can listen to the death tape on youtube. https://i.imgur.com/qfTIwQU.jpeg It's usually a way to reference when people follow something blindly and exhibit a cult mentality. Although the Jonestown residents had mixed feelings and didn't all agree with evidence of some of them being forced to take the poison. With some also escaping.

This whole war in Ukraine is a complete mess. I can see how something like this has been brewing for years, all starting when NATO started expanding to the east. The west started meddling in Ukraine's affairs by supporting pro-west people that didn't want to stay as a puppet state to Russia. Now we have a mess where that psychopath Putin feels like he needs to invade Ukraine and take it over before NATO converts it over first. Here is the only way I think peace might be reached. We need a solid border of neutral countries separating NATO and Russia. Russia needs to move their forces out so we don't have borders that touch, and the west needs to stop screwing around with affairs in those countries and just let them be puppet countries. We need to make a new Warsaw Pact and re-draw the lines and let Ukraine be in Russia's sphere of influence again for the sake of global peace. We've expanded NATO a lot over the past 20 years but we gotta' take a break on expanding freedom and focus on other global threats like our global climate crisis spiraling out of control. In Syria US and Russian forces on patrol a couple days ago just hung out taking pictures with each other. https://static.themoscowtimes.com/image/article_1360/f7/000_32KY68N.jpg How is it that soldiers on the battlefield know how to be friendly with each other when our leaders can't? Same shit, different era.

At the end of the day what I think the Ukraine conflict boils down to is oil. NATO needs a friendly source of oil since things in the middle east are not going well. We don't have strong oil friends there. Russia and China do. If Ukraine were westernized all that raw oil in the sea in the cremea area would be fast tracked to the west at prices that are not price gouging like from Russia and the Middle east. Russia wants Ukraine to stay a puppet state so that they can have a monopoly on oil resources and have way more global power because NATO would have to depend on them even more for oil. This is why neither side wants to back down.

President Obama: Passes a massive expansion of Medicaid eligibility to provide public health insurance to our poorest citizens. Republican Governors: Reject the Medicaid expansion. President Biden: Forgives federal convictions for simple possession of marijuana, encourages governors to follow suit. Republican Governors: Reject the idea of pardoning for possession. President Biden: Signs a massive student loan forgiveness order to provide some economic freedom to folks who pursued higher education. Republican Governors: Reject the student loan forgiveness, sues the federal government to stop it.

The Healthcare Act made medical way more expensive for people who were already working and/or paying for their own insurance. Working class picks up the slack again. 15 years ago you could get a decent insurance that just had co-pays, now you are pressed to find any that don't include some kind of deductibles or strenuous out of pocket costs that must be paid before your insurance even starts paying anything other than check ups or other preventative care.

Pretty much a double whammy at that since you are already taxed for Medicare and Medicaid via federal and state taxes that tend to go towards the poorest citizens in need for medical expenses. Not saying the system was perfect, by any means, I know, my last job involved those programs, but the Healthcare Act really screws over people floating in, around, and just across those poverty lines. The insurance companies have a larger populace to care for, meaning more money spent to the Healthcare industry rather than retained by the Insurance companies, profits down, so now they implement plans that steadily get worse to not go belly up. The Healthcare Act is why I didn't vote for Obama to begin with because people in the Healthcare industry saw this coming.

But heyyyyy. Look at where we are today. A $30 million grant that could go towards medical cost relief instead goes to funding Biden's crack pipe kits, so that's cool. "Progress."
