LOL The Weather Channel just sent me an alert this morning letting me know there's a chicken shortage. I immediately thought about the guy that went behind Lowe's to film all the lumber they have at the back of the store while the reason for the hike in lumber is due to a shortage. On the other hand, I don't remember much about chicken rearing, but I do know if they would stop tossing the male chicks into a shredder, maybe we would have more chickens? Surely in 2021, they can come up with some viable solution to keep roosters together instead of just killing them right?

This is what I hate about the chicken egg industry because it is the roosters of the egg laying chickens that are sent into the grinder. As a hunter there is nothing in the world more disgraceful than killing something that is not yet an adult. However the reason is that the meat yield of these particular kinds of chickens isn't enough to justify the cost of feed supposedly. Last time I ran the numbers they would be making something like $1.20 or something per chicken and apparently that isn't enough. Considering the amount of chickens that die this way, they are missing out on around $100 million a year. Another option would be making the common rooster, a pet. You could turn that into a billion dollar industry.

They're not giving out the patent because its their money maker.. private investors are probably lobbying to keep it private. Assuming manufactures wont make it right is dumb. At least in the states we have the FDA to make that call. Anywhere else isnt really our problem.

I feel like pantents on a life vaccine for a pandemic ravaging the world is kinda fucking selfish. But it shows the nature of the beast that is big pharma. When people need drugs that without it would kill them, they jack the prices up..

Well what pisses me off is that it gets government funding to create, in other words I paid for that shit as well as everybody else. Then they keep that information away from everybody.
