What do you guys think?
I work at a hospital currently as a civilian but I have an opportunity to work active duty in another state for a whole year. Here are the pros and cons of both jobs:
Hospital pros is paying an extra 7 dollars an hour on top of my pay due to working with covid patients. I have never caught it myself so I wouldn't consider it a con. The con is my job might try to let me go if I leave so long.
Pros of the new job is I only work like every other day due to covid conditions and I'm getting paid $55 per diem which is like extra money every day for a whole year and is not taxed. So that's $20,000 tax free on top of my regular pay and BAH. Con is the area I'm in has high chance if getting the virus itself and I have to live in a hotel for a year basically.
I already worked in my civilian job for almost 5 years so I have enough time to put it on a resume if I get let go.
What would you guys pick if you had the opportunity?

Second is totally better. Lot more pros than cons to sum it up.

Sounds like contract work tho. Leaving a job with tenure to do contract work sounds bad. Even if it pays more, think long term. Also consider if you're able to move up at all in current job.
