Oh, I definitely agree. That, too, was deplorable and atrocious. I think the reason, then - having considered that - is that these injustices have a way of building on each other in the public consciousness over time. People didn't forget how Arbery's death was treated. And incidents like that have a way of driving home that the system really doesn't care. So when it came 'round to Floyd, basically everybody already knew that nothing was going to really be done about it unless people made things be done about it.

I can scarcely even imagine what it'd be like to be a black person in the USA. The thought that I could just be randomly killed in such an inhuman way by a cop just because he's had a bad day or just doesn't get enough kicks out of his job is difficult to even process, even in the abstract. As you say, it's no wonder why people riot. I agree that voting in small elections is very important, but there needs to be more done, too. Communities have to come together for this sort of thing, and make sure everyone's as looked after as possible. If representatives and established institutions won't do it, people generally will have to find a way to do so, I think.

The cops job is to de-escalate and apparently the citizen's job is to escalate and hope the cop doesn't whip out his gun. If you feel like cops are out to get you, then why in these videos do the citizens do everything in their power to make their situation worse?
