Gift Giving Etiquette part 2

I had someone who would keep on bothering me that I did not give them a gift even though it was unfortunate that I wasn’t making enough money at the time. I was struggling and they just told me to get them one for another time. Really now???

@code_016 I agree. A gift is not a gift if it's obligatory. If the words "I got you this item because I really wanted, but couldn't make use of it" or "You are supposed to do this for me" when you knowingly have already in less than a month's time that is terrible manners. In your situation, young Midoriya, it seems you need to focus on building a foundation for yourself so that you may be in a position to give. However if you do owe someone gratitude then gift them with your time or service in a way that doesn't put you financially out.

Gabe, do you give spontaneous gifts yourself? I have this weird thing where if someone gives me a gift I feel obligated to return the favor in some form. Maybe they are trying to repay you somehow for something you did for them? It just occurred to me. I am horrible about giving birthday gifts, but I also hate giving birthday gifts. I try to do all my gifts at Christmas.

I do give gifts to people however I make it a point to never pick things that only I myself would want. I also don't saddle others with unnecessary obligations to suit my personal needs. In the cases of the two people I reference I have gone out of my way to spend time with them. I took in their dilemmas while offering alternatives, but they ignored those opportunities because it meant I wouldn't be carrying out their responsibility for them.

I could Cero. I know I got plenty of that 'HOT Cash' they like to send me whenever I order anime shirts off the site. Then I go to use it and they never let me because the stuff I buy doesn't ever qualify. That I also got plenty of 'BOXLUNCH Cash' too haha!
