So I've always been alone to be honest i really enjoyed it i got to focus on what was important to me but after recently breaking up with the gf and mates being really busy with work/uni ect. I've realized i am lonely and i lack friendships most people have.

@Laffantion having a gf isn't everything, if you think it is going to bring happiness into your life try focusing on making your life better without one. Everyone that hasn't had a gf suddenly thinks it will somehow make their life amazing but the truth is a relationship is a lot of work and if you are not happy in your normal life a lot of things are going to be strenuous in the relationship.
