So I know its but a convention, but I found out that the Hatsune Miku concert tour is finally coming to Orlando this year. I've wanted to go to one for a while, but not enough to travel cross-country for it. I'm actually really excited about possibly going (assuming COVID doesn't screw it over). Has anyone else ever been to a Miku concert/is planning to go to one? Or even just like the Vocaloid games or music in general?
This concert could've been happening in my town during this month (May).
But unfortunately, even if there was no COVID pandemic then I still wouldn't be able to attend it because it would've been happening in the middle of a busy week instead of happening on a weekend, and also because I wouldn't want to blow my planned budget during the attendance of the AnimeNorth convention which would've been happening exactly 1 week after the concert and which is of a much higher priority to me. Spending too much on leisurely outings within the space of only 2 weeks is very unwise.
Anyways, yes, I'm a Vocaloid fan and I'm looking for a partner who belongs to this fandom too, along with 2 other very important fandoms on the side.
I've never played the official rhythm-based games, but I've played tons of amateur fan-made indie games such as a platformer, an RPG, and several dating simulators based on the franchise.
I have plenty of Vocaloid songs in my music library. And furthermore, I mostly prefer the voices of the fanloids rather than the voices of the official characters. My favourite duet pairing is Neru Akita and Haku Yowane. The fan imposter and the official reject. They deserve respect and I give it all to them.
I've even read the Miku manga and I collected tons of fanart.
I would want to see a hologram concert someday. And by the time that I finally do, I hope that Neru and Haku will finally have their hologram forms already. Otherwise, I'd be sad.
Oh, the one in Orlando is in September.
For me, I discovered I like the vocaloids from Project Mirai on the 3DS. It was just so adorable and so relaxing to play. I was going through rough times back then and dealing with major depression, but that game never failed to put a smile on my face. Eventually I branched out to the Project Diva games. Miku has kind of become something of a source of comfort for me. They're great for me to pop on for a few minutes and play a few songs to clear my head. It frequently really helps me feel better.
I will say though, as much as I like Miku's music, I've seen people tune Luka and IA surprisingly beautifully. I think they tune a bit better than Miku, and the both definitely do English better. Miku's Japanese accent is very thick in her English voicebank.
I actually am friends with a girl that's a huge Miku fan. Sadly, dating her will never be an option for a number of pretty glaring reasons, but I still love and treasure her as one of the best friends I've ever had. That's off topic though, so not getting into that.
I was introduced to the Vocaloid fandom through Youtube videos at the beginning of 2016. I was originally searching for videos of Sailor Moon characters dancing, and the search algorithm began to recommend MMD videos for me to check out.
And so I checked out those MMD videos and through them discovered the big universe of Vocaloid.
If I am to make a choice out of the official Vocaloid characters then I think that my favourite one would be Luka Megurine, since she's the tallest and the most mature female, and her English sounds very cute, and since I have a huge weakness for pink hair and long wavy hair on female characters.
Anyways, it's sad to hear about you and your female friend. My instinct is telling me that you might be having the same problems as me in that field. If she is underage then just patiently stay in the friendzone until the right time, and if she is far away in another country or another town then just keep nurturing and building your bond through collaborative art within the fandom. I've seen examples of this working out for other people. Don't give up hope! Best of luck, man.
I'm going to a Hologram Miku Concert in October but I don't think that's what you're asking about but I wanted love and attention so plz notice me
@ikunikudiku Oh no, it is. Miku Expo is the concert tour. The thread is about the Vocaloid concerts in general, not a specific one.
@blissfullforce1818 Oh, she's a friend I've known for years. She lives in another country and she's been with her boyfriend longer than I've known her. She's definitely not a minor, she's in her late 20s. There are so many barriers there that I actually have no intention of telling her how I feel. I just want her to be happy, and I don't think I can even give her happiness equal to what she already has let alone more. I'm happy just being one of her best friends. And yeah, Luka and IA do English very well. I've seen people tune both well enough that they sound like fluent English speakers. Miku's Japanese accent is very thick, so it's impossible to do that with her.
