Hmmmm, I'd have to say Crono Trigger. I honestly compare EVERY JRPG I've played after CT to it....and very few come close to me. FFVII is very close behind and I'll throw in Grandia as a honorable mention.

Imagine not saying Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Quest III/IV/V, Xenogears,any of the Ys games, any if the Seikan Densetsu games, or any if the SaGa games.
