How do you fall asleep?

rayelight
These days I take Buzzfeed quizzes on my phone until I can't keep my eyes open anymore. But I also like to read a good book until I'm tired enough. As a teen, I'd pop in a VHS of taped anime I'd watched 5,000 times and fall asleep to it. No matter what, though, I must have the sound of a fan or heater in the background.

So professionally what I'd recommend is generally avoiding stress, follow a night time ritual, avoid medications that can cause you to be active at night, don't nap through the day, don't eat large meals at night, don't use your phone, etc. What I personally have been doing lately is reading all my studying stuff for my boards cause if there's one thing that will put me to sleep faster, it's reading about federal and state pharmacy laws :p

I’m in the same boat so just here for the comments lmao. People have some pretty good idea’s. What I usually do is wait till I’m already kinda falling asleep then lie down after that. But it doesn’t work all the time. Podcasts help just something you can put on in the background that you don’t really care about. Idk why but always seems to help. I imagine it’s diff for everyone tho. Just gata find what works for u.

@ambrosel gambatte dont let those voices get to you. Just be the best you that you can be. Thats what matters right? So what if there are people that dont stick around there will be people who will and those sre the people you gotta treasure the most. If they cant love you for you then they are trash anyway XD

i've found that i can't seem to shut my mind off when trying to sleep, so i try to focus on something that doesn't require much thought. i like to envision a place i find calming, and simply walk through it. it distracts you from more stressful or complex thoughts that might be keeping you awake. i also used to do some breathing exercises that really helped, if you look some up i'm sure you'll find some that work for you. i get so bored of trying to do the breathing exercises that i just drift off to sleep.

I've got a real bad habit of having every extra stupid thought go through my head at night, which really doesn't end unless I busy myself until I basically black out.
