What is everyone's favorite anime protagonist? I will start with saying mine is Lelouch from Code Geass.

I'd honestly have to say Yugi Muto from the original Yugioh. Yeah, I mean if you take all of the jokes with Yugioh Abridged aside, I really find Yugi to be a very unique protagonist compared to a lot of shonen type heroes. The original Yugioh had a charm about it that was refreshing. Yes, they revolved the idea on a card game that grew very popular and imo got really boring after quite some time. But, I've rarely ever seen a protagonist that has two different personalities. One whose kindhearted, and the other being evil. Especially the original manga before the main series, he was more of an anti-hero in the beginning, but at the same time was unaware that there was another presence within himself. I really love characters like that, it adds an element of mystery and allows a character to grow through time. I also love the concept of Yugioh and how it draws upon Egyptian Mythology. The way the characters eyes are drawn have similarities to old Egyptian art. I just love the artstyle a lot. XP

As much as Berserk is my favorite manga, I’d have to say Thorfinn from Vinland Saga. I’ve never seen such tremendous, believable, and sympathetic character development elsewhere. The same could be said of Guts, but he’s more subtle about it verbally.

Apart from those two I’d have to say Eren Yeager, and that wouldn’t be so if what’s going to happen in season 4 of the anime never took place. Anime only’s are really in for it.

I like shonen anime and manga but their protagonists are much more limited in scope.
