Fire Emblem Playstyles

So, I know there's a Fire Emblem hub around here but it seems to be mainly news and I'm not sure how many folks have got a chance to play the recent game. I mean I haven't, so I figured it might be better to have a specific fun discussion thread (without spoilers) revolving the past series for those who like the series and or are familiar with the past games. Anyways! So this is about playstyles and strategies for folks that aren't too great at the games. How do you like to play through a Fire Emblem game? Do you prefer the classic approach or do you prefer the casual style(Awakening) when it comes to getting through the game? Also, how do you pick your team members that you'll be using? Is it more based on units with the best stats/growth rates? Or do you go for a character's personality that you happen to really like? Or maybe it's both? So, I'll go first. I've always been a pretty decent Fire Emblem player. Thracia 776 is honestly the most difficult Fire Emblem game I've ever played and beaten to the end. I'm not a fan of lunatic mode btw. But yeah, I like the classic Fire Emblem approach. It changes your perception and every choice you make is crucial. When a character dies you feel bad that you could've done something to prevent it yet you're forced to move on, or click the magic reset button. XP As for how I like to pick my teams, I like to pick characters that I really like because they're all so unique and don't really think too hard on the stats/growth rates. I like Nomads, Assassins, and Swordmaster type classes the most. So I guess I go mostly for speed yet maintaining a balanced team.

When I lose one of my characters I cut off one of my fingers. https://i.imgur.com/niSxeBa.png I started playing before the casual option existed, so I got used to that, and for some reason I like to torture myself with the most cancerous difficulties. Thracia is hard, and it's my favorite game, but the most difficult game I played was New Mystery of the emblem in Lunatic difficulty. Crazy thing is there's another difficulty above that, 'Reverse Lunatic', but that's beyond me lol And I always replay the games a couple of times, so I try to pick different teams everytime.

That's pretty hardcore. O_O But yeah, I tried actually tried Lunatic mode once in New Mystery of the Emblem. I got stuck right in the training chapter against Cain. I just couldn't figure out how to get past that part.
